What is a QR code?

What is a QR code?

Why do I need to know about QR codes?

Google defines a QR code as "A QR Code is a matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by QR scanners, mobile phones with a camera, and Smartphones. "    Currently, most QR codes look like a black and a white square box.  Newer QR codes are being produced with the corporate logo embedded in the box or with various colors in the box. This QR code is will bring you to a Mashable.com article, "http://mashable.com/2011/08/19/qr-code-tips/"

You might be saying to yourself that you are not Geeky and don't need to know about QR codes right about now and are ready to stop reading this blog.  Please wait and read some more about QR codes.

We are finding QR codes everywhere these days, from ads in newspapers, magazines to the back of products in different types of stores.  You might find an article in one of your favorite magazines or newspapers with one of these funny looking codes embedded in the article.  When you take your QR code reader from your Smartphone or mobile device and scan the code, it will take you to either a website with more information or possibly a link to any type of offer.
You can use your QR reader while you are out shopping to either compare prices of the product or to find out more information about the product.  Just point our QR reader over the QR code and it will scan it and take you to a specific website.

You can find QR readers in your device App Store.  Just search QR readers.  Most QR readers are free.  There will be some specific for shopping, some of the iPad, some for barcodes .  I have recently seen, some magazines that will advertise their own specific QR readers.

Please let me know if you have any questions about how to use QR readers or how to create a QR code.
